A dashboard turns the work on your boards into something you can read at a glance: how many tasks are open, who is loaded, what is late, what the month cost. Nothing is copied or re-entered. A widget reads your live board data, so a dashboard is right the moment somebody changes a task.

The two kinds of dashboard
Where a dashboard lives decides what it can see.
A board dashboard
Lives on one board as a view, next to Table and Kanban. It reads that board. Best for "how is this project going".
A standalone dashboard
Lives in the Dashboards area in the sidebar and can pull from as many boards as you like. Best for "how is everything going".
They are built from the same widgets and behave the same way. The only real difference is how many boards they are allowed to read.

Making one
Three ways, from fastest to most deliberate.

Open Dashboards in the sidebar and click New dashboard
A two-step panel opens. Step one: name it, give it an accent colour, and choose Start blank or From template. Step two: tick the boards it should read. You can add more boards later, so do not agonise over it.

Or start from a template
Browse Templates shows a library of ready-made layouts grouped by the kind of work (project management, agile, sales and marketing, HR, operations, finance, personal, and more). Each shows a preview and what it needs, for example a Status column. Pick one and it drops in a full set of widgets already wired to your columns.

Or let Gript suggest one
On an empty dashboard, Smart Dashboard looks at your columns, statuses and group names, works out what kind of board it is (a sprint board, a sales pipeline, a support queue, a bug tracker, and so on) and builds a fitting set of widgets in one click. Everything stays editable afterwards.
Create a board from one of the built-in board templates and you often get a matching dashboard for free, already pointed at that board and its columns. Nothing to set up.

Add widget opens the picker. There are more than twenty five types, and they fall into a few families:

Click the gear on a widget to open its settings. What you see depends on the widget, but it always comes down to three questions.

Widgets on a standalone dashboard can read several boards at once, which is what makes a portfolio view possible: one Number widget counting every open task across eleven boards, one table listing everything overdue anywhere.
A widget that has not been pointed at a board yet says so on its face, with a prompt to click the gear. It is not broken, it just has nothing to read.

BackgroundEight quiet backgrounds for the dashboard canvas: Default, Pearl, Stone, Paper, Linen, Ash, Silver and Charcoal.
Reset filtersClears anything you have clicked into on the widgets themselves.
Clicking a slice of a chart or a bar usually filters the rest of the dashboard to that value, so you can drill in without building a second dashboard. Clear filter on the widget, or Reset filters in the toolbar, puts it back.

Saving, naming and sharing
Save view keeps the current layout. Rename changes the name, and Delete dashboard removes it, which cannot be undone.
A board dashboard can be promoted with Link to Dashboards, which makes it appear in the Dashboards area of the sidebar as well as on its board. Unlink puts it back to being just a board view.
Sharing follows the boards a dashboard reads. Somebody who cannot open a board cannot see its numbers here either, so a dashboard never becomes a side door into work that was not shared with them.
My widget says "No data". What is wrong?
Usually one of three things: no board is selected yet (click the gear), the board has no column of the type the widget needs, or your time period excludes everything. Try All time first to rule the last one out.
Can a dashboard show more than one board?
A standalone dashboard from the Dashboards area, yes, as many as you like. A dashboard that lives as a view on a board reads that board.
Does Smart Dashboard use AI, and does it cost anything?
No and no. It matches your board against a built-in catalogue of common layouts. Nothing leaves Gript and there is no per-use cost.
I moved widgets around and lost the arrangement.
Layout changes are only kept when you press Save. If you have not saved, reloading the page brings the old layout back.
Can I put a dashboard on a TV in the office?
Yes. Open it, switch Auto-refresh on, and it keeps itself current every 30 seconds without anyone touching it.
